Jim's Favourite Canadian Destination

Jim reveals his favourite Canadian travel spot! You can check it out in the "Celebrity Spots" section of LocalsKnow.ca.

Jim says...

“One of my favourite spots is the Lake Agnes Teahouse, about an hour and a half-hike from Lake Louise, Alberta. The teahouse is on Lake Agnes which is a beautiful, mountain-fed, aquamarine lake. Once you arrive, after a long, hot hike, you plunge into the lake and the water is so cold it takes your breath away. Just amazing.”

Rockers Win Against NHLers

The Rockers came out on top in the Juno Cup hockey game in Vancouver, B.C., on March 27. It is the first time the NHLers have ever been beat in the game's history. The NHLers have threatened the Rockers with a stacked team for 2010. Jim agrees that next year's game may be more of an uphill battle! See the full story here.aggbug

Jim's Juno Weekend

This has been one busy weekend for Jim. Like many of the country's top musicians, he spent it in Saskatoon, SK, attending Juno Award festivities. Jim was nominated for two awards - Adult Alternative Album of the Year and Single of the Year for "Pull Me Through." On Friday evening he picked up the award for Adult Alternative Album of the Year, beating such tough competition as Neil Young and Ron Sexsmith. Winning this award almost made up for the fact that on Saturday, the Jim-led Rockers hockey team lost 11-9 to the NHL Greats. Check out more details on that game here.

The following day Jim thrilled fans by performing at the Songwriters Circle. Then that evening was the telecast of the Juno Awards. While Jim didn't take home Single of the Year, he did receive a few kind words from the winner of that award Nelly Furtado who took home an incredible five Juno Awards.

Jim Takes Part In "Canada Reads"

CBC Radio's annual "Canada Reads" competition has announced its 2007 reading list and our own Jim Cuddy has been named one of the five all-star panellists. Jim, whose literary selection won "Canada Reads" several years ago, is championing Timothy Taylor's novel Stanley Park.

Jim faces some tough competition from his fellow panellists who include the Barenaked Ladies' Steven Page and who are rooting for such diverse selections as Gabrielle Roy's Governor General awarding-winning Children of My Heart and the Mumbai-based The Song of Kahunsha by Anosh Irani.

Jim and the other panellists will defend their choices starting on February 26 at 11:30am and 7:30pm (half an hour later in Newfoundland) on your local CBC One station.  The competition wraps on Friday, March 2, 2007. For more details on "Canada Reads" check out its website.
